Why Do I Sweat Right After Drinking Water?

The massive sudden intake of the water into the stomach releases a swell of endorphins in the brain. This incredible release, being hydrated or not, is what causes the nervous system to 'flush' with blood and the overly excited central nervous system reacts by sweating for a brief time. It passes, as quickly as it comes on, and the duration is positively correlated with how sensitive your system is to sudden changes.

To avoid this, you should simply drink the same amount of water, over a longer time. Shorten the duration of 'chugging' large volumes of water, into many more sessions of less volume. P.S. - the body retains more by drinking smaller amounts more frequently, compared to volume chugging once or twice a day.

** An interesting fact....if you've been out partying, and drinking enough alcohol to become extremely drunk, in the morning, if your gut can take it, try 'chugging' a full 10-12oz water without stopping.... Not only is it VERY EASY TO DO, but it will actually make you intoxicated again!

Wow... I have had this problem for over 10 years. I love to chug water... I love water in general... But randomly when I drink water suddenly I get really hot and sweat a little bit. It's really uncomfortable for a very short while... Like maybe 10 seconds max. Anyway, tried looking it up everywhere but every site I go to talks about drinking water and working out. This is the first answer that actually makes sense.

I also used to sweat after drinking water. Not normal sweat. Like get really hot and get visibly wet water running down my face sweat. Without exercise or exertion. Was not normal. I changed my diet, became vegan. I drink a lot of smoothies full of vitamins and other nutrients, fruits and green vegetables and plant proteins. The sweats are long gone. I think it was kind of deficiency but not sure what since I changed so much.

I have the same question and have yet to find an answer.  I also sweat after drinking water.
The only think I can think of is that I do not drink nearly enough water my body needs, and therefore my body sweats after I drink water (mostly around my forehead) because it can FINALLY release the water (sweat) that my body wants to rid of, but could never do so because it knows I need as much as possible as I do not have enough water in my body....so I believe it may be a sort of release to say..."OK...finally you can sweat now".  Sounds stupid...but it;s just my guess.

I agree with the above statement, I don't drink water and recently starting to exercise so ive been downing a lot of it.... I sweat at room temp not doing anything to get all the toxins out I think.

Sweating after drinking water is not bad, because you are simply sweating out that water that your body just took in.

You just have to remember in regards to sweating after drinking water that you have to constantly keep the balance equal, and so even if you are really tired, if you are still sweating then you have to make sure that you are still drinking water, in order to equal out what you are losing in perspiration with what you are taking in from drinking water.
