When I make tartar sauce I use real mayonaisse and I use relish, whatever is on hand. Use Miracle Whip if you prefer that and put some in a dish. Start off with about 4 tablespoons depending on how much you think you might need. Then add the relish to taste. That's all I do. I'm not a pickle lover except for dill but when relish is being mixed to make tartar sauce it tastes better to me no matter what kind it is.
This is very simple and you can modify it as you wish. It's all up to you and what you like. Don't get too technical with cooking because the joy of cooking can be lost. Play with different ideas and have a great time. I certainly understand you wanting to keep it simple. Take care.

You can either use mayonnaise or salad dressing and add either sweet relish or a dill relish. It depends upon your taste. I use sweet relish and Miracle Whip for mine.

I took about a cup of mayonnaise and put it in a bowl. I than added about 1/2 cup of sweet relish and dribbled a bit of the juice in with it. I than took a spritz of Worcestershire sauce, dash of pepper, garlic powder and onion powder into it. Last of all and optional, I sprinkled some lemon pepper on top afterwards and it was SUPER DUPER TASTY!!! ( we at deep fried cod dipped in it, was yum nummy)

I like to use a good mayo ( 1cup ) then mince a good crunchy dill pickle
like a Clausen . Add to that a little minced red onion ( about 1 slice) along with some fresh squeezed lemon juice and about a tsp. Of dill weed.
