Is "Poutine" starting to make an appearance in US restaurants yet? If you have seen it, how far south of Canada?

Hi Korvo!  It's not in my area yet.  (Western Illinois)  The closest thing I've seen is truffle fries with shredded beef.  It's not quite the same, but very tasty!

I saw some recipes. I'd love to try it, but I'm probably the only one in my family who would like it. The rest are catsup fanatics.

I never saw it in IL when I lived there .. And not in VA either.  It sounds gross anyway.

Pretty sure the rest of my family would feel the same. I'd give it a taste. I like mashed potatoes and gravy.

Nothing wrong with mashed potatoes and gravy, that's what we were brought up on out here.

Dear Korvo One,

If you come to Seattle, you can get poutine at Von's Gustobistro on First Avenue.

And, Seattle being cobbled together from a hodgepodge of eclectic neighborhoods, poutine is also available in the Greenwood District, Ballard (Scandinavians), the Central District, Belltown, First Hill, Wallingford, Capitol Hill, the Fremont District, and Downtown.

Granted not that far from the Canadian border British Columbia, but still tucked off here in the Pacific raincoast, far from Quebec.

Lots of Canadians shop and some even work in Seattle, and you sell what the customer wants I guess.

I googled it since I didn't know what it is.

It listed restaurants in Texas that serve it.
