For anybody who suffers with an allergic reaction to yeast and wishes to find an alcoholic beverage that does not contain yeast - then the best thing to do is to not include any alcohol in their diet. Although drinks such as Budweiser are an example of yeast free alcohol, as it is filtered and purified prior to being sold to the consumer - it is important to note that it will have contained yeast in the early stages of brewing.

Other drinks such as wine remove the yeast from the finished product by a rigorous filtration process which ensures that the finished product is fit for consumption. If there was still yeast present in the wine that you find on your shelves then the liquid would appear cloudy, and the yeast would continue to be reacting with the wine which ruins both the taste and appearance. Yeast is used in all alcohol beverages as they are fermented during the brewing process.

This process cannot take place without yeast as it is the yeast that reacts with oxygen to make the alcohol in the first place. Consumers should always air some caution when purchasing drinks such as vodka and beer from overseas as some breweries are not as strict about extracting yeast and may still contain much of the active yeast bacteria. Yeast is not bad for you, but if you are allergic to it then it would be wise to eliminate alcohol completely.

All alcoholic beverages require the action of yeast to transform sugars into alcohol. Some yeast may remain in beer and wine. However, distillation prevents any yeast from being transfered from the mash (where the alcohol is produced) to the distilled spirits (gin, vodka, tequila, whiskey, etc.

Vodka

"The purest of all alcohol - it is distilled so well that no yeast remains, so you can drink it if on a yeast-free diet.  Vodka is also the least likely of all alcoholic drinks to give you a hangover, as it is free of preservatives, congeners and colouring. One scientific analysis found vodka had only a tiny amount of the toxic alcohol methanol, so is less likely to cause the unpleasant after-affects of drinking too much."
