Yes, some people are reported to have failed a drug test after having an energy drink, despite not having taken any drugs

On the other hand, there are also those who have found that some energy drinks can actually help you pass a drugs test when you have taken drugs - it all seems to depend on the type of energy drink you consume.
One person in an internet forum posting has admitted that after drinking a NOS Energy drink they were found to have tested positive for amphetamine despite not having consumed the drug. Another person claims to have tested positive for cocaine after having a Red Bull energy drink.

So, can red bull make you fail a drug test?

Sports drinks are also reportedly able to block out the effects of taking drugs on the body so that a drug test can come back negative. For example, some people claim that energy drinks that contain B6 B12 and niacin which can help you pass a drugs test. The B6 B12 is reported to help block the absorption of the drugs, and the niacin is apparently then able to mask the dilution of them in your urine.
If you have not taken drugs and are having a test at work, the safe thing to do is to try to avoid energy drinks just in case the ingredients do react with your body and show up positive in your results.

It can actually help you pass a drug test, just make sure it has B6 B12 and niacin in it.  The B6 B12 help block metabolism of drugs and the niacin masks the dilution of your pee.  Its worked  for me numerous times for lab tests being that I'm on random drug testing.

Energy drinks can actually help you pass a drug test if you have been using. Make sure the energy drink has Vitamins B6 B12 and Niacin in it. The B6 B12 help block your body from metabolizing drugs in your system and the Niacin works as a masking agent. Drink a couple before your test you'll piss clean and won't come back as a watered down test, you'll be wired but it's worth it for those tests that catch you by suprise.

My friend drank a NOS energy drink on the way to work. They surprised everyone with a pre-liminary drug screen when they walked in. Test came back positive for amphetamine!! Now they are requiring a full lab test which hopefully clears my friend. Those pre-lim over the counter quick tests are often incorrect and I don't think companies should use them. My friend is suspended from job until the 'official results' are back. No telling how long that will take, so in the mean time....no job ... No money!!

If that could happen then you wouldn't have any sportsmen around the world passing drug tests. Energy drinks usually contain things like glucose and other such elements that give energy to the body. These are unlikely to be tested positive in a drug test. But sometimes banned substances are sold in the market under names of energy drinks. Just make sure you don't purchase those. Energy drinks like Gatorade and Lucozade are openly consumed by athletes even on camera so there shouldn't be a problem consuming those.

Every sport has a booklet that has a list of banned substances you could ask your coach or team officials for that. Once you have your hands on that booklet you will exactly know what substances are banned in your sport because every sport has different substances that are banned. For example, in some sports the use of Creatine is allowed whereas in some it is banned.

I think that it depends on the energy drink you are talking about and the different ingredients in it. Recently there has been a lot of speculation on the things found in energy drinks and their usage. One such drink is the Red Bull. It is very popular energy drink. But recently there was information being circulated through email that it contains a stimulant known as Glucuronolactone.

It was being accused this substance was used to boost the morale of the soldiers in the Vietnam War and was banned from use later in America. Several other energy drinks also came under scrutiny. Several tests were conducted and several reports were brought out but nobody for sure can say if an energy drink can fail you in a drug test. There are people who swear that they do while other also claim that they don't but there is no proper evidence to prove it either way.

I had a single bottle of water and 1 can normal size of a Green Monster Energy drink while driving 45 min. To court house from home.

I do not use any drugs. My test result came back negative-dilute that translated means I failed my drug test and the judge stated very clearly that he felt I was hiding something. The exact test results for levels of creatin or ph or weight has not been shown to me yet. I have read that it can be read dilute for low weight, low creatin. Some labs will place the label dilute with a result of high vitamins. Monster is full of the B's

Can you fail a test with Energy drinks? ... Yes. For masking and or diluting your urine.

Red bull will not make you test positive for amphetamines, however niacin (freequently used for dilution/masking) is an ingredient, so the drink could help. However it should be taken into consideration that niacin is one of many things screened for in lab tests that can bump you from the standard 50ppm test to the 15ppm we think somethings wrong with his/her picture test. But no. The drink its self will not test as an amphetamine.
