It all depends on what country you are living in! If you live in California or Spain, you can grow tomatoes all year round. In the UK you can only really grow them in the spring/summer/autumn, so now is the time to start planting!

From my experiences of growing tomatoes no, I don't think tomatoes live better during the colder months of the year
