Every thing we eat today except it was all made at home. No fast food back then
it was all up to the family's head cook (mom) to plan and prepare menus. Baking bread,
boiling potatoes, frying chicken, vegetables, etc. Many of these things were grown or
raised in the average suburban backyard. A small garden and a coop of 50 chickens
was common. My family had a garden of corn, potatoes, beans,peas, peppers, onions,
radishes, cucumbers, squash, melons, strawberries, raspberries, apples, grapes, cherries,   plums, tomatoes, We had more tomatoes and strawberries than we needed so we traded them to the local store for beef.
