Moonshine was most prevalent in the Appalachian region, West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee. Stills set up hidden in the woods, it was/is a income source for those who made it....now of course moonshine is made legally by distilleries....and I'm sure to some extent it continues to be made in the Appalachian hills. Otis puts out a good amount from Texas though!
