I love rice pudding, especially my mom's homemade. I have a new recliner being delivered this morning and I'll be sitting in that and I'll start reading the stack of books that I've been meaning to read.

I enjoy reading and I like rice pudding with a sprinkle of cinnamon on it.

I'll take the book over rice pudding. Actually today looks to be a good day for curling up with a good book. It is overcast, no one is scheduled to come by, and I cleaned the house yesterday.

Yesterday is the first day in forever we didn't break 90 degrees. (It was 89) but it is humid. And still no real rain at my house. Others have gotten it though.

I don't like rice pudding, but I love books. I'm going to use book lovers day as an excuse to read all day. I usually tell hubby that the appliances needed the afternoon off or I'm holding down the couch or the bed to keep it from leaving. Book lovers day.....nice.

Dear Otis,

I will pass on the rice pudding, but some of my best reading since 2010 has come from Askers and Blurters. This one (from Ask) so good for example I included it, scarce space on my travels, just unable to leave it behind:

David, what does it mean, "e-books"? What does that look like physically? Is it a Kindle?

There are a number of eBook readers; KIndle is just one of them. I've been using my smartphone (it's an up-market Galaxy) which is really too small for reading books but I've read a few and quite enjoy them.

Whatever you use, you need to make sure it's not using a reflective screen. Makes it hard to read in bright light; and some of the screens that are back-lit can be hard on the eyes.

Another angle is that many (most?) libraries now include eBooks and audio books and you can visit borrow books from home, 24/7. I joined a second library, just out of my area, for access to the digital books.

You know, you are giving me an idea...I may just go to our local library and ask what they suggest as an e-reader, and what their resources are. I see Amazon books for sale on Kindle download, $9.95 and I could never do that, I read too much and would go bankrupt quick...but the library is something else again...plus those classics I do want to keep.

Do you recall referring me to Aldous Huxley THE DOORS OF PERCEPTION? Well at first I was put off by it because of his access through drugs - but that ended up a book I also carried with me in my little car all those thousands of miles - I ended up feeling that he tapped into something authentic about the mind and its function.
