A potato peeler is made by attaching a metal blade to a wooden, plastic or metal handle that can be used for the peeling of vegetables, generally for potatoes.

There are three different types of potato peelers: - the Yorkshire peeler which has a blade and the extension of the handle in such a way that the blade of the knife. The second type of potato peeler looks like a razor, some times it is known as Y – Peeler or yoke peeler; sometimes it is also referred to as speed peeler or Rex Peeler. The third design of potato peeler has no specific name given to it, but it can be called as the Australian peeler because that is where this design was originated, the Australian peeler consists of a plastic handle that extends upwards for the support of the base and the tip of a partially rotating blade.
