There can be a number of causes for dry mouth such as:
- The saliva glands are not working properly.
- It can be caused by taking certain medications
- Can be a side effect of disease like Sjögren's syndrome, Alzheimer's disease, diabetes, anemia, cystic fibrosis, rheumatoid arthritis, hypertension, Parkinson's disease, stroke, and mumps etc.
- Nerve damage or neck injury
- Dehydration
- Excessive smoking
So check for all these from a doctor so that exact cause can be determined.
