Actually, different forms of marshmallows show up in history all the way back to times in Egypt, used for medicinal reasons, mainly sore throats. Over time, there have been many different ways of making the marshmallow, and the only name that I could find associated to the marshmallow popped up in about 1948, one American, Alex Doumak figured out how to manufacture them in mass. Since then, this is the most popular way to make them. I can't find any definite recipes, but, we know they are usually associated with hot cocoa, and make a great treat when browned over a campfire. I hope this helped.
