Is it Doughnut or Donut?

Well it was originally spelled doughnut and some people still spell doughnut, but most people do spell it donut and that way of spelling the word has been used so much that society has accepted it. So both ways of spelling are technically correct. I guess it just depends on the person. I for instance spell the word D-O-U-G-H-N-U-T
