When's the last time that you had a good Banana Split ? Where was it from?
Never had a Banana Split before :P I don't like ice cream that much though, so I personally don't believe I'm missing out on anything.
There are a few things that I will try at different places until I find the right recipe at the right place. I'm picky about my banana splits. They must meet this dragonfly's criteria. I finally found two places that make them differently but both are the best I've ever had.
The first place is about a half mile from my house. I just had one last week for dinner. A little hole in the wall called Connals.
The second place makes them completely traditional. Real Ice cream, real whipped cream. Vanilla, Strawberry, and Chocolate ice cream. Pineapple, chocolate, and strawberry topping. Real whipped cream, nuts and 3 cherries. It's called Fair Oaks Pharmacy and Soda Fountain. I had one for my birthday last year.
It's been awhile, but I made it myself! I'm not much of a banana person!
The best banana split that I had was from a now defunct place called Witchwood Dairies. It was a place that I frequented as a teen. I used to get at least one a week. They were huge and the BEST. I haven't had a real good one since.
i was about 8 when i last had a banana split (About 16 years ago). I remember my dad getting it from Dairy Queen. (it had 3 flavours on it)
I don't like bananas.. i aviod them as much as possible. and im not fan of ice cream either.
When I was working at a conference center decades ago, they had a small "after hours" snack bar. (They weren't allowed to compete with the local tourist stops, so couldn't open until 7pm.)
I was working there one night, and realized nobody had gotten bananas from the main kitchen for the splits. Nobody with a kitchen key could be found, and it was the last night of the conference, so we created the "Don't split so soon". Basically, a banana-less split with warm fudge brownie.
It was so popular, that it became a regular item on the menu.
(unlike the "replace the banana with a hotdog" idea some joker suggested)
