You can dry porcini mushrooms this way.
First of all do not wet them to wash off soil, or soak them in water,
after collecting them brush off any obvious soil or leaf particles with a soft brush. A big paint brush is perfect for this as a nail brush will be too hard. Do not remove the stems as these are also full of flavour, just slice off the very bottom root part with a sharp knife.
Then set them out on some clean paper towel and slice them
lengthwise quite thinly about 2mm thick.
Depending how many you have this should produce a tray full.
Then heat the oven to a very gentle 140 C and lay them out on trays, trying not to overlap to much or they will not dry so well.
Place them in this oven with the thermo-fan on if you have one in your oven, you can check on them after 40mins and turn them. You may have to repeat this a few times, turning till the ends curl, showing that they are dry. It depends on the size of the porcini. Remove them from the oven, and leave them till completely cool in the tray, and then store them in an airtight container ready for use.
