I have found that the flat breads were made back in the stone age and greeks and romans developed it and it eventually reached italy where it had no tomatoe (as they had not been discovered by coluba yet), at first in italy it was seen as peasant food but when the Queen Margherita found she liked it, people began to approve of it more. The now most common deep pan pizza originated in america where it was thought, by italian immagrants, that americans would prefere this with savoury spices. This American pizza is what we have most of the time today.
