Okay, this is time for all you namby pamby vegetarians to clear off. (I was a veggie myself for 16 years, so I can say that). Having sold out to the carnivore pleasures, I can perfectly understand why someone asked.

It helps if you live in New York City. Seven guys there have made a new website, Burgerrankings.com, which reviews the quality of burger joints and their offerings all over the city. Of course, if you read their rankings, even the seven guys don't totally agree which restaurant offers the very best, but between them they give a pretty good idea of where you're going to find quality. They even make repeat visits to the same restaurants, to make sure that quality is consistent over time. Should you wish to join the ranks of this reviewing elite, one of the usual reviewers is out for injury (elevated cholesterol levels) so you might be able to offer yourself up as a subin the short term.

But what happens if you don't live in NYC? It might to time to get out your passport. Time magazine says that the best burgers in the world are to be found at Lucille's, which is an Egyptian restaurant in Cairo. The best burgers in London were listed by Time Out magazine in October 2008. Of course, there's really no need to go International in the quest for the perfect burger. Why not embark on your own search for the best burgers within our native shores? Such research involves traveling many miles, and throwing caution to the wind where heart disease is concerned, but don't let that put you off. Still, if weeks on the road aren't really to your taste, check out some of the existing lists of America's best burgers.
