Chicken has an odor when fresh but if it smells bad rinse it with water and pat dry, if it still has a bad smell throw it out ,don't eat it. It should never be kept in the refrigerator for more than a few days before cooking and eating it. If you see that it is going to go bad you can always cook it and refreeze it but once it has been frozen raw you can't thaw it and refreeze without cooking it first.
