I prefer the skin on as that's where the nutrients are.

Rooster is right. During the Irish potato famine, parents fed their children the inside of the potato while they ate the skins because they thought they were giving the best part of the potato to their children.

The children started dying from lack of nutrition and  the adults were living because they were eating the peels.

Most nutrients are in the peels. Just make sure the potato is washed and don't scrub the peel off while washing. I leave the peels and I have a really good recipe for mashed potatoes with peels.

I cook them cut up with the peels and mash them up with butter, salt and pepper and milk, and then I mix them up with my kitchen aid mixer. I then fold in shredded cheddar cheese, bacon bits and chopped nacho peppers for a little spice. So good !

Both are tasty but I peel them more often than I cook them in their jackets.

Another gem, "jackets" vs "skin". Love it.

It's actually from a poem. "Potatoes with their jackets on are a feast fit for a king." Sorry, don't remember the rest. Heard it when I was a kid.
