It depends on the snacks, but it's usually very good for you to have a snack every four hours or so to keep you on your toes, so you're more awake, alert, and focused on your day's work. General snacks that I would recommend are fruits, vegetables, and even crackers that aren't high in sodium. Nutrigrain bars are also really good for tiding people over until meal time.

It's only when you eat the snacks that aren't good for you (chips, cookies, candy, etc.) that can run you down and have disadvantages. Stick to healthier snacks and you'll be fine.
