Advantages:  Many. Healthy oils (omega-3 polyunsaturated oils). These oils are very important for heart health and brain health. Besides this fish are high in protein and vitamins while containing no saturated fat (unhealthy oil).

Disadvantages:  Mercury contamination from polluted water in certain fisheries. Salmon fisheries have been discussed in the news as having this problem, but some other fish have it as well. Mercury is a type of heavy metal and it is very bad for the blood and brain. Some types of fish are almost extinct from overfishing, and consuming these fish (like Chilean Sea Bass and Atlantic Tuna) contributes to this problem
