Well we can say YES, sparkling wine and Champagne are both the same. France actually uses the term "CHAMPAGNE" for sparkling wine which is produced in Champagne region of France. You might read the term "Methode Champenoise" which actually means that they are made from the same method but out of the region. See, in Italy people call them Prosecco or Spumonti and in United States they are known as sparkling wine or the term " methode champenoise" is also used. In France they are also known as Cremant apart from Champagne. And Saint-Hilaire Blanquette de Limoux, is the France's Oldest Sparkling Wine.
