To prepare stew apples you will require will require the following ingredients, Two pounds of tart apples, three tablespoons of butter, half a cup of water, one-third cup of dried white wine and zest of one lemon.

Peel and core apples; cut them into broad circles. Melt the butter in a heavy skillet. Saute the apples for around three minutes, turning them once or twice, sprinkle the sugar and add to it water, wine, and lemon zest. Cover and let it simmer over low heat for ten to fifteen minutes or till apples become very tender. Stewed apples usually serve quiet a few people.
