To make Portuguese cookies, you need 3 cups of flour, half a cup of sugar, half a table spoon of salt, 3 table spoons of baking powder, 8 teaspoons of unsalted butter and 4 eggs. Mix the sugar, flour, salt and baking powder. Add three eggs to it and then again mix thoroughly. Now add butter to this mixture slowly and keep mixing till the dough becomes soft and smooth and does not stick to the sides of the bowl. Now grease the cookie dish and make almost one inch thick and 5 inches long stripes out of the dough. Now join the two ends of a strip to get a doughnut like shape. Place these cookies on the tray and make a glaze with the remaining egg and a table spoon of sugar and brush it over the cookies. Now bake the cookies for 20 minutes in an oven that has been preheated to 350 degrees.
