Melba toast was invented by the famous chef Auguste Escoffier in 1897. It is assumed that he had been created this toast in the name of famous opera singer Dame Nellie Melba to show his respect for her. The toast is made from delicately sliced white bread and toasted until it is very crunchy. It is widely accessible now and mostly dished up with hors d'oeuvres.
Ingredients:
1 long thin loaf of French bread
2 tbsp softened butter
½ cup fresh grated Parmesan cheese
Method:
Slice loaf into 1/4-inch slices and make 4 triangles from each. Now spread slices and add butter on them. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Now put them on a cake rack over a baking sheet. It will allow the drip to be trapped and the air will squirm around the slices. Now bake at 325° for about 20-25 minutes, or until they become dry and very crispy.
