Well I got this recipe from my grandmother...
1 cup of miracle whip
1/2 cup coaco
2 cups flour
1 cup white sugar
1 cup of warm water
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 teaspoons baking soda
mix all ingredients together cook at 350 degrees for 30 minutes
For the icing you need
8 tablespoons brown sugar
3 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons milk
after the cake has baked for 30 minutes take the cake out of the oven pour on icing and let it cook for 5 minutes longer
If you leave it in any longer it doesnt taste right, believe me I have done it...
The first time I made it I thought you were supposed to put a toothpick in it and if anything stuck on it, it was not ready... Well this is a very moist cake so it will stick on the toothpick for sure.
Hopefully this has been helpful to you and hopefully you like this recipe... My whole family loves it!

I waited to see if anyone with first-hand experience would answer this question, and maybe if you leave it open somebody will, but in the meantime there seem to be lots of recipes online to choose from. You can get a good selection if you just type "hellmans mayonnaise cake" in any search engine - here is one example. I'd never heard of this cake before and am really intrigued - think I will try one of these recipes myself!

If you appreciate moist, days lasting fresh chocolate desserts, this will be a favorite.
The obvious escaped me and I will Google the Hellman's Mayonnaise. Thanks for the trouble!
