SIMPLE MARROW SOUP: (good recipe but the soups is lousy)
  • 1 marrow
  • 2 onions
  • garlic (optional, use as much as you like)
  • any other unused veg lurking in the fridge
  • stock (fresh or a cube)
Method:
  1. Chop and deseed marrow, chop other veg, saute in butter or olive for 5 mins, add stock and season with salt, pepper and mixed herbs.
  2. When everything is cooked through cool and liquidise. The marrow makes the soup quite creamy but you can swirl in some cream if desired. Add a little chilli sauce to spice up the soup.
  3. Another variation is to chop the veg into quite small pieces and cook in the same way, but do not liquidise or add cream, instead add some cooked rice or soup noodles/mini pasta.

John, It may SOUND delicious but you don't eat it with your ears. It has the flavor and aroma of pachyderm dung.

JackyII: Pachyderm dung - do you eat at the circus often?

There is no good recipe involving a giant marrow, unless you simply hollow it out and use it as a container for real food.

Any recipe for squash is good for marrow. I like to add molasses to most of my squash recipes, because I like the taste.

Yes I do eat at the circus. But why should you choose to criticize me for eating Pachyderm dung which is a rich source of digested fiber when you cook with mole asses?
