I have country ribs in my freezer, but its dated 5/08. Should I get rid of them or are they ok to cook.
For about a week if they're uncooked and two and a half if they're cooked
A pork chop is basically a chop of pork. A centre cut or as it is also called, a pork loin chop generally consists of a large bone which is shaped like the letter 'T'. The structure of this cut closely resembles that of a beef t-bone steak. Rib chops are produced from the rib part of the loin, and closely resemble rib eye steaks. Shoulder chops, also called as blade chops, are carved from the shoulder part of the loin, and generally include large quantities of connecting tissue. A sirloin chop is cut from the rear end and this also consists of a large quantity of connective tissue.
Pork should be cooked at an internal temperature of 71 degrees Celsius or even 76 degrees Celsius, so as to erase the threat of trichinosis. Pork chops can be stored in the freezer for a long period of time, but the quality tends to get worse.
