Yes, I seem to have an intolerance to rye (but also oats, wheat and barley). Interestingly, I am not gluten intolerant (I've had both a blood test for this and a biopsy taken). There seems to be something about being intolerant to certain lectins found in different groups of foods (cereals/grains have one type, potato, aubergine etc. Another and so on). There are a lot of gluten-free foods on the market but alas, no lectin-free.

I hope this helps. I would also be interested to read other opinions on this.

I recently visited an allergy specialist with a suspicion of wheat (or perhaps, gluten) intolerance. The first thing he has asked me to do is keep the wheat omitted but 'know myself out' (his words) with 100% Rye bread for 3 weeks... It's been almost one and every day I have been doubled over with stomach cramps!!!! Having coeliacs tests run in a few weeks. Will keep you updates.
