Satori Kato, a Japanese scientist working in Chicago, invented the Instant coffee in 1901. It was only in 1938, after the launch of Nescafé, that this instant drink came to be known. However, it became more popular across the globe, after the post WW II America. Today anywhere in the world, the word (Nescafé) is known as instant coffee. It aslo means "miracle coffee" in Hebrew.

Some of the advantages of instant coffee is that it is in the form of powder or granules, due to which it is easier to dissolve in hot water. With the powdered form you can prepare either strong coffee or light coffee, depending on the coffee powder added.
It also helps in prearing iced coffee like the Greek frappé. This drink really proves being instant in warm climates.
