Yellow crook-neck squash is only at its best when freshly cooked. In many years of experience I have yet to see any type of preservation method work well enough to keep it from going totally mushy. The best you can do is to quick blanch it, drain it thoroughly, then vacuum seal it in freezer bags that can be taken directly from the freezer to a microwave.
