The quickest way of flavoring moonshine is to simply add flavoring in the shape of an essence, such as strawberry essence, for instance. After a stir or a gentle shake, the flavor will have mixed in well enough to drink it straight away. This occasionally does, however, taste a little artificial.

  • Using Fresh Strawberries
The best tasting solution to how to add strawberry flavor to already made moonshine is using fresh, unmarked and unbruised strawberries, although this will require waiting until the relatively gentle flavor of the strawberries has fully permeated the moonshine.
  • Method
To do this, the strawberries should be cut into chunks small enough to pass through the neck of a bottle. After filling the bottle with these chunks to just below the neck, the moonshine is poured into the bottle. Filling the bottle up into the neck will ensure that all the fruit chunks are covered, preventing the fruit from going strange.

The bottle should now be sealed well, to prevent unwanted fermentation of the fruit. Fermentation will not only create an altogether different kind of drink, it may also result in exploding bottles.

The sealed bottles should then be kept in a cool, dry place to allow the flavor to properly infuse the moonshine. The longer it is left, the more flavor the drink will ultimately have. The fruit, by the way, will taste great on ice cream; although this is a treat strictly reserved for adults, as the fruit will contain a lot of the alcohol, especially if left a long time.
  • Using Other Fruit or Vodka
The same method can be used with any other fruit, or to flavor vodka. Rumor has it that dried apricots or peaches soaked in moonshine and placed into the freezer make a particularly nice drink that will last for years.

I used to flavour my vodka by leaving the liquid in a jar with the flavours or fruit left to soak the vodka the best tip is to cut them up small and stir every couple of days.

Put whatever fruit you want to flavor the drink as, add a small bit flavoring (coolaid) and let sit. You may also want to cut back the proof using distilled water for less of a bite.
