I had turtle soup once and it was awful-not sure if it was the turtle or the broth seasonings.

Yes I have.  A family I knew did survival camping.  They'd prepared turtle one evening.  It was tough, but tasty.  And yes...  they actually said, "Tastes just like chicken!"  🐢=🐓

I've had snapper soup often and love it.

I've never eaten it as in a "slice" of turtle, but I've had turtle soup many times. It was pretty good.
