Everything. There is no distinct type of food that is produced by the USA (fast food doesn't count, there are fast food restaurants everywhere, in some form or other). There are distinct foods which are variations on other countries foods (such as ravioli, which is originally from missouri). As a general rule, every meal but breakfast has some kind of meat in it (usually chicken or beef), some kind of starch (bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, corn, beans, etc), possibly some kind of vegetable- too many to name- and usually some kind of desert or sweet afterwards, such as a cookie, cake, etc.

if you're looking for some american food recipes, a good place to start is with Chili, pot-roast barbecue, and various grilled recipes (such as hamburgers). These aren't universal foods by any means, but they are distinctly american in ingredients and preparation. Another interesting source of american food is chinese restaurants in america: Most people don't realize this, but the chinese food served in america as chinese has nothing to do with chinese food, which most people, upon trying for the first time, don't particularly like. (it's not that it's bad, it just doesn't taste like you expect it to, and some of the textures are... Strange). Anyway, american chinese food could be recognized as a distinctly american type of food (there is no 'kung pow chicken' in china), as it derives from some asian cooking methods (such as stir-frying) but has distinct and unique ingredients and recipes not used in asia (or only used in asia after being brought there from america).
