The calories contained in a cantaloupe melon can be found online very simply. A website that is all about diets and how many calories are in each food / meal states that in the average melon that are 24 kilocalories per 100g of the fruit (www.caloriecounting.co.uk). However, another website (www.lasting-weight-loss.com) states that in a honeydew melon there are 46 calories per 1 tenth of the melon. This is compared with 94 calories per half a cantaloupe melon. This works out that there are:

Approximately 10 calories in 1 ounce or 28g of melon

- Approximately 47 calories in 10 balls.

- Approximately 150 calories in 1 small melon (about 4? "diameter)

- Approximately 180 cals in 1 medium or average melon (about 5" diameter)

- Approximately 227 calories in 1 large melon (about 6? "diameter)

- Approximately 53-55 calories in 1 cup (5.5 oz) of diced melon

- Approximately 35 cals in 1 slice, 1/8th of a large melon (6? "diameter when whole)

- Approximately 23 cals in 1 slice, 1/8th of an average melon (about 5" diameter when whole)

Approximately 19 cals in 1 slice, 1/8th of a small melon (about 4? "diameter when whole).

However, when you eat food. Not all the calories stated should be accounted for. This is because that when we eat we burn calories eating the food. Assuming a body weights 150 lbs, the average person will burn about 102 calories eating every hour. This means that for the average sit down meal you have probably burnt off the slices of melon you will eat for dessert.

A medium sized, whole cantaloupe has approximately 190 calories. A serving size, approximately 1 cup, has about 60 calories.
